Homemade Flour Tortillas

Flour tortillas are the base for many dishes, like quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas and burritos. They have been a staple of Mexico for thousands of years. The ones that can be purchased in the grocery store usually contain a plethora of ingredients that can’t even be pronounced.

Once you make your own, you’ll never go back.

It is so simple, you’ll wonder why you never attempted them before.

These tortillas contain just four ingredients.

The flour and salt are combined in a bowl and the water and oil are mixed in.

What you end up with is a shaggy dough. It is kneaded until soft, about 2 minutes and left to rest.

After it’s nap, you wake it up by splitting it into eight equal pieces and rolling them into balls.

The balls are rolled out into flat circles about 7 inches in diameter. They are then cooked over medium-high heat until golden.

The result is beautiful, crunchy vehicle for just about anything you can think of putting in them.
